Care Guide

Polyurethane Material

All Elms+King bags come packaged in our signature dust cover for safe storage. When not in use, store your Elms+King bag in its dust cover, out of direct light, in a well-ventilated area.

When out & about, remember not to over fill your bag. Carrying less weight puts less stress on the handles, straps and hardware, as well as helping to lengthen the life of your bag. Be careful not to expose the material to heat or moisture and take care with things like the use of sunblock or moisturiser on your hands, as these substances can impact the stability of the polyurethane coating and may cause light colour transfer, flaking and/or cracking.

If your bag gets wet (we know accidents can happen!) blot any excess water as soon as possible and allow the bag and lining to air dry (out of direct sun light) before using again.

If marking occurs, the material can be wiped down, using a warm, damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaning solution. Insider tip? Baby wipes can also work some magic on stubborn marks.

Canvas

Our canvas is produced with a cotton base. Please be mindful that lighter coloured material is prone to colour transfer from darker clothing items (such as dark denim). Please keep this in mind. We recommend applying a protective fabric spray prior to use. Remember to always test a small patch of the bag prior to coating or cleaning.

Nylon

All Elms+King bags come packaged in our signature dust cover for safe storage. When not in use, store your Elms+King bag in it’s dust cover, out of direct light, in a well-ventilated area. Our easy care Nylon is water resistant, and can be hand cleaned with a warm, damp cloth.

Cashmere

To properly care for your cashmere knit, we recommend following these care instructions. Firstly, hand washing is recommended. When washing, use cool water and a mild detergent. Avoid using hot water, which can cause the garment to shrink.

Additionally, it is important not to bleach the knit. Bleaching can cause damage to the yarn, leading to holes or discolouration. It is also crucial not to wring the knit when wet. Squeezing or twisting the knit can cause it to stretch, lose its shape or even tear.

After washing, reshape the knit while it is still damp and lay it flat to dry. This will prevent any stretching or misshaping of the knit. Do not hang the knit to dry, as this can cause it to stretch and lose its shape.

Lastly, the knit may also be dry cleaned if preferred. When dry cleaning, make sure to use a reputable cleaner who is familiar with cashmere, and cashmere blends. Following these care instructions will help to ensure the longevity and quality of your knit.
